Pat Taynton’s Watercolor Photorealism About the artist:
Patricia Taynton graduated from Moore College of Art in Phila., Pennsylvania. She is a realist whose primary subjects are equines and wildlife depicted in watercolor, tempera, gouche and acrylic. While creating life-like animals, she enhances her subjects with the extra dimension of spirit and, individuality. Taynton has exhibited in the U.S.A., Europe and the middle east. She has been commissioned by the Franklin Mint, Defenders of Wildlife and The World Wildlife Fund, who has distributed her work internationally. She taught ”The Animal in Art” at The Philadelphia Art Museum. Her work has been used by the national Wildlife Federation in their stamp series. She has won numerous awards in equine and, wildlife competitions, as well as in photography. One of her awards in 2003,at The Washington Thoroughbred Breeders Assoc. “Equine Art 2003”,was first and second place in watercolor, the purchase award and, best in show. Patricia Taynton has now fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a resident of The Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. She is now teaching watercolor through the Continuing Education Dept. of Peninsula College and, teaching private workshops. Before moving to Washington, she spent twenty-five years in therapeutic riding and a number of years doing equine body work. She is still involved in teaching a section of a course for therapeutic riding instructors in Pennsylvania. This involves the conformation of the horse and, how it relates to movement , soundness and, useage.
