Laurel Bentsen's Bio I've been designing with faux florals (often called "silks", though they're mostly polyester) for over sixteen years, and I am delighted to be a part of the beautiful offerings here at Olympic Art Gallery. I use the best quality permanent botanicals I can find for my wreaths, swags, centerpieces, table toppers, and holiday decorations. I vary my offerings with the seasons, with special emphasis on fall and winter. My designs often look so real and lifelike, that people need to touch or smell them, to believe that they are, indeed, NOT real! Since moving here just over six years ago from Chicago, Illinois, my work has evolved to reflect this part of the country: much more wild, loose and free, and I am beginning to incorporate more indigenous materials, like shells, driftwood, feathers, and mosses into my designs. I, like so many other artists, have found the Olympic Peninsula to be a very inspirational place to live and create, surrounded by spectacular natural beauty as we are. I do accept custom orders.
