Biography
Randy P. Hopfer Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest Randy Hopfer has grown to love all that nature has to offer. Specializing in wildlife photography, Randy photographs a variety of animals found in Oregon and Washington. His love for travel and exploration takes him to other parts of the world where he enjoys observing and photographing more exotic subjects. While Randy photographs animals of all type, his favorites are birds of prey, bears, and large cats. His photography captures the drama of life in the wild. Randy's love of animals and passion for his work transfers the magic of a moment to film for others to enjoy. Randy hopes that his photographs will help others experience the beauty of nature and inspire an attitude of awareness and preservation. He believes that experiencing nature on both an intellectual and emotional level greatly enriches the human experience. For camera equipment Randy shoots a Canon 1VH and uses the Canon 500mm F4 IS as his primary wildlife lens. He uses a Bogen 3221 tripod with an Arca Swiss B1 ballhead. For wildlife he likes to shoot Fuji Provia F 100 ISO slide film for its fine grain structure and natural color tone; when he needs more speed in low light situations he shoots Kodak E200 slide film and pushes it up to two stops. Currently Randy and his wife Patti reside in Vancouver, Washington. They enjoy hiking in the Columbia River Gorge, the Cascade Mountain Range, and the Olympic Peninsula of Washington. |
