Dale’s life long interest and hobby in knot tying lead to an interest in learning how to tie decorative knots in silver. Dale’s wife affectionately refers to her husband as a “knot head” and knows he always has a piece of rope or string in his pocket in case he has idle time on his hands.

From his first class in learning to use one knot to create bracelets, Dale experimented further and learned to use silver to form decorative knots that became pendants, bracelets and earrings. An interest in further expanding his jewelry design using silver smithing techniques and artistry emerged. After studying with an artist in Boulder, CO, Dale started creating unique; one of a kind works in his Auburn shop. Combining his knot tying with other wire wrapping and weaving techniques, plus adding silver smithing and various types of chain mail designs, Dale named his business “Fusion Silver” to indicate the fusing together of various techniques, designs, stones and shells.

Dale currently displays his works in the Olympic Art Gallery and in various art shows around the Pacific Northwest. Many of his pieces are also available via his always “work in process” web site: www.fusionsilver.com. He also enjoys developing custom pieces based on client’s specific requests.

When he’s not working, Dale and his wife Ruth enjoy exploring the Pacific NW. Raised in Texas, Dale was “persuaded” to move to the Seattle area in 2001 by his wife who is originally from Spokane, WA and was offered a new job opportunity with her company. After 5 years in the Pacific NW, Dale has no intention of leaving here to return to somewhere as hot and flat as Dallas. Moving to the Pacific NW has resulted in more hobbies and adding 2 person kayak and snow shoes to their outdoor gear. Dale and Ruth have enjoyed hiking, biking, camping, kayaking and snow shoeing their way through several of the parks and trails in the region and look forward to many future outdoor adventures.
